The ancient internet
Interesting but worrying that so many people seem to struggle with even moderately complex points. Here is an example. Someone commented on twitter about the bad behaviour of modern youths:
“The point is correct that we have had similar troubles through out history. Artistoles’ famous quote complaining about the bad behaviour of the youth of ancient Greece is relevant. But that doesn’t mean nothing changes. It might have been that those youth’s in ancient Greece were gossipy and nasty to each other, but they weren’t doing it on the INTERNET. Things do change, often very significantly.”
Then some ejjit below added the comment:
“Of course they were not doing it on the internet. The internet had not been invented then, fool!”
That 2nd person may be congratulating themselves as being clever and revealing the weakness in the 1st person’s thinking. Yet actually being very silly for not realising the first person’s meaning.
